We have been serving Tallahassee and the surrounding areas since 1991. We are certified by the National Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (NELAP) and the State of Florida DOH #E81350.

Todd Acker

Laboratory Director

Todd Acker is our Laboratory Director and our fearless leader. In addition to covering the business side and doing some chemistry analysis, Todd appreciates the outdoors from boating and fishing to walking in the woods with his dogs. If he’s not enjoying nature, then he’s eating over at Seineyard Seafood and cheering on the Noles. When he’s at home relaxing, he’s catching up on The Big Bang Theory. Todd’s favorite quote is “The race is not always to the swift, but to those who keep running.”

Steve Holm

Technical Director

Steve Holm is our Technical Director here at the lab and he loves doing his chemistry work while jamming to Led Zeppelin. In Steve’s spare time he enjoys cycling, hiking, camping and working in his yard. When he’s not catching up on his HULU shows, he’s watching his alma mater FSU compete in just about every sport on the ACC network. Steve also enjoys reading, especially biographies, and one of his favorite sayings is: “It’s difficult to imagine infinity, yet harder not to…”

Emily Urquidi

Chemist

Emily Urquidi is a Chemist here at Ackuritlabs. She is always baking new treats and bringing them into the office to share. Emily loves to binge watch Grey’s Anatomy when she can and spend time with her cat, Cobalt. Emily would love to travel to Spain to visit distant relatives. Until then, this FSU graduate will stick to eating the Mac Daddy Burger from the local Midtown Caboose. Emily says, “Honesty is the best policy,” and she tries to live by that every day.

Mark Busby

Service Manager

Mark Busby is our Service Manager who is always helping everyone he can. He usually drives while making calls and listening to his favorite band Alabama. If you ask Mark, he needs a superpower or two and he would choose to be a replication man so he could be everywhere helping all his clients. In Mark’s free time, you’ll catch him hanging out with his family and being the backyard grill master. Mark lives by a saying from Albert Einstein “A person who has never made a mistake, has never tried anything new.”

Brandon Busby

Service Technician

Brandon Busby is our Service Technician who like his dad would tell you he needs a superpower, he would choose to fly to new places and to any service call he needs to get to. When Brandon has some free time, he enjoys listening to the Zac Brown Band and eating at El Jalisco’s. After all of his installations are finished, Brandon kicks back watching a good movie like Forrest Gump. Brandon’s favorite quote is “I walk slowly, but I never walk backwards. “ – Abraham Lincoln.

We all answer the phones and deal with customers, so you never know who you’re going to get. We look forward to hearing from you.

Bert Rincon

Service Technician

Bert is an Ackuritlabs Service Technician and Installer. His coworkers describe him as having a “big brain”. If he were to have a superpower it would be to have all the knowledge of every encyclopedia in his brain. In his spare time, he is a DIY guy and enjoys working on projects at home. He’s also adept at grilling. Smoked chicken is his favorite creation. Bert’s favorite movie is Forrest Gump and his favorite band is “The Smiths” an English alternative pop band. He has 3 years in water treatment. It is a field that he loves! Bert’s favorite part of the job is the customers. He enjoys solving their problems and making them happy. He also enjoys working at Ackuritlabs, “It is a great company and the people are fantastic!”.

Michael Busby

Service Technician

Michael Busby is an Ackuritlabs Service Technician and Installer. Born and raised in Thomasville, GA, and a proud resident of Tallahassee since 2007. He has been happily married for nine years, and together with his wife, they have a six-year-old son. Michael serves his country as a Combat Engineer with the Army Reserve’s 344 Sapper Unit in Tallahassee. He loves his job because it allows him to help people by ensuring they have access to fresh, clean drinking water. If Michael could have any superpower, he would choose time travel to go back and witness great historical events firsthand. Coworkers describe Michael as highly knowledgeable, with great expertise in plumbing. He is also known for his charisma and charm, making him a valued member of the Ackuritlabs team.

Patience Wilcox

Meet Patience Wilcox! Her dedication, experience, and enthusiasm have already made a significant impact on customer service, billing, and reporting operations. A Kentucky native from a large, close-knit family, Patience brings a strong sense of connection and teamwork to everything she does. She also shares her life with Tharros, her adventurous English Springer Spaniel.

Before joining Ackuritlabs, Patience served over six years in the U.S. Air Force and continues her service in the Air National Guard. With a bachelor’s degree in logistics management and a passion for excellence, she’s a perfect fit for our team. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, horse riding, reading, and gardening. She’s also an avid traveler, having explored places as far as North Korea and the northernmost reaches of the U.S. Her team-oriented mindset and positive attitude make her an invaluable part of the Ackuritlabs family!

Christian Hernandez

Christian Hernandez brings a deep appreciation for nature and science to our team. Growing up on a small farm (Manvel, Texas), he became his family’s self-taught horticulturist before earning a bachelor’s degree in molecular biology from Princeton. Now pursuing a master’s in soil and water science, Christian was drawn to Tallahassee for its vibrant church community and natural beauty. His role at Ackuritlabs allows him to apply his microbiology skills to protect local water systems from contaminants, ensuring safer water for homes and businesses.

Outside the lab, Christian is actively involved with Four Oaks East Church, where he hosts gatherings and volunteers with the youth ministry. He enjoys exploring North Florida’s scenic landscapes, hiking at Apalachicola Bluffs and Wakulla Springs, and working on his novel set on the Gulf Coast. A lover of classic literature and history, he finds inspiration in works like The Divine Comedy. At home, he’s kept company by his crested gecko, Lil’Joel, during long study sessions. Christian’s dedication, warmth, and passion for science and community make him a valuable part of the Ackuritlabs team.
